Monroe County Bar Gathers with the Judges
On Sunday, June 21, 2009, the Monroe County Bar Association hosted the judges of the Third District Court of Appeal at Camille’s restaurant in Key West. Chief Judge David M. Gersten and 16th Judicial Circuit State Attorney Dennis W. Ward spoke to the group of attorneys and judges about the following day’s visit for oral arguments. After oral argument, the networking continued at a nearby restaurant called Meteor Smokehouse. |

On Friday, May 15, 2009, Chief Justice Peggy A. Quince visited the Third District Court of Appeal. She toured the Court, meeting the court staff, and conferenced with the judges on key issues affecting the Florida State Court System. |

First Annual Luncheon with the Judges
On Thursday May 14, 2009, the Third District Court of Appeal Historical Society held its First Annual Luncheon with the Judges at the Biltmore Hotel. Chief Judge David M. Gersten addressed a crowd of over 100 attorneys and judges about his reflections on his term as chief judge. The Historical Society was created to continue to commemorate and memorialize the history of the Court. |

High School Appellate Competition Held at the Third District Court of Appeal
On Friday, April 24, 2009, the Third District Court of Appeal hosted a High School Appellate Competition. Florida Law Related Education Association, Inc. sponsored the competition. High school students from Dr. Michael M. Krop Senior High School and Miami Killian Senior High School prepared appellate briefs on constitutional issues and presented oral argument before local appellate practitioners. |

Judges of the Third District Court of Appeal Hold Oral Argument at the St. Thomas University School of Law
On April 14, 2009, the judges of the Third District Court of Appeal held oral argument at St. Thomas University School of Law in Miami Gardens, Florida. Chief Judge David M. Gersten, Judge Linda Ann Wells, and Judge Barbara Lagoa served on the panel. The law students had an opportunity to observe oral argument. After oral argument, the judges entertained questions about the cases and judging in general. A luncheon followed. |
