The Third District Court of Appeal Historical Society was formed for a very important purpose: to commemorate and preserve the Court's history. Specifically, the Society's mission is to preserve the Court's historical records; to create further records, in print and electronic media; to document the history and achievements of the Court; and to educate the public about the workings of the Court and the judicial system.

Past Events

Judge David M. Gersten On May 25, 2012, the Historical Society hosted a retirement ceremony and reception in honor of Judge Juan Ramirez, Jr. who retired after twenty-four years of service.
Program Photo On May 13th, 2011, the Third DCA Historical Society held its bi-annual Luncheon with the Judges at the Hyatt Regency in Coral Gables, Florida.

 

Judge David M. Gersten

On June 30, 2011 at 3pm, the Third DCA Historical Society hosted a ceremony and reception to honor the retirement of Judge David M. Gersten (click for more information).

Judge Gerald B. Cope, Jr.

Judge Gerald B. Cope, Jr. retired from the Court on October 31, 2010, and he joined the Akerman Senterfitt law firm’s Miami office.  Judge Cope served as a member of the Court for 21 years, and he served as Chief Judge 2005-2007.
