In order to assist the Court in orderly consideration and disposition of matters under appellate review, compliance with the following is respectfully requested:
NOTICE OF APPEAL: File the original and one copy in the lower tribunal with the $300.00 filing fee payable to the Clerk, Third District Court of Appeal. Include the lower court case number and judge’s name in the upper right hand corner. There may be an additional fee for the lower tribunal. In the certificate of service, please indicate the names of pro se litigants, attorneys, their firms and who represents whom. Also provide mailing addresses, telephone and fax numbers.
ORIGINAL JURISDICTION PETITIONS: File an original and three copies with the $300.00 filing fee (if required) payable to the Clerk, Third District Court of Appeal. Petitions should be securely bound on the top or upper left hand corner. Include the lower court number and judge’s name in the upper right hand corner. In the certificate of service, please indicate the names of pro se litigants, attorneys, their firms and who represents whom. Also provide mailing addresses, telephone and fax numbers. Include pre-addressed, stamped envelopes for all parties involved in the proceeding.
APPENDIX TO PETITIONS AND BRIEFS: File an original and three copies, securely bound on the top or upper left hand corner. The appendix should be filed separate from the petition or brief. Large appendices are to be securely bound in consecutively numbered volumes consisting of no more than 200 pages.
MOTIONS: Extensions of time—file an original and copies for all parties involved in the appeal. Other motions—file only an original. Include pre-addressed, stamped envelopes for all parties involved in the appeal or proceeding.
RESPONSES: File an original and three copies of responses or replies to original jurisdiction petitions. File only an original of responses or replies to motions.
BRIEFS: File an original and three copies, securely bound on the left hand side or upper left hand corner and in a manner that will allow them to lie flat when opened. No specific color folder is required.
RECORD: When providing directions for inclusion of exhibits in the record on appeal, do not designate any tangible evidence without prior permission of the Court. This applies especially to drugs, firearms, explosives, x-rays and heavy or bulky items such as large maps, photographs and graphs. Large supplemental records are to be securely bound in consecutively numbered volumes of no more than 200 pages.
NOTICES TO INVOKE DISCRETIONARY REVIEW IN THE SUPREME COURT: File an original and two copies together with a copy of the opinion and order on rehearing, include a $300.00 filing fee payable to the Clerk, Supreme Court of Florida.
PHOTOCOPIES: The photocopying fee is $1.00 per page. We are unable to provide change so exact cash, law firm check or money order is accepted as payment. Please call ahead to arrange for the court file and/or records to be made available for viewing.
