  1. How much is the filing fee for an appeal?
  2. $300.00. Exact cash, money order, or a law firm check are accepted as payment. Checks are payable to the Clerk,Third District Court of Appeal.

  4. Briefs and appendices: original and 3 copies

    Motions for extension of time: original and copies for the number of counsel involved in the case

  5. How do I obtain photocopies of court documents?
  6. If you know exactly what documents you need copied, please contact the clerk’s office for arrangements to have your request faxed to the clerk’s office. A deputy clerk will call you when the photocopies have been made. Generally, it takes a couple of days to process your request.

  7. How much does it cost for photocopies?
  8. For court documents, the court charges $1.00 per page. Exact cash, money order, or a law firm check are accepted as payment.
    Checks are payable to the Clerk, Third District Court of Appeal.

  9. How do I obtain a recording of the oral argument?
  10. The oral argument is recorded and copied to a CDROM. You must have a computer to view the recording. Submit your request to the clerk’s office in writing along with the $25.00 fee and a self-addressed stamped mailer. Generally, it takes a week to process your request.

  11. What is the cost of a recording of the oral argument?
  12. $25.00 per CDROM. Exact cash, money order, or a law firm check are accepted as payment. Checks are payable to the Clerk, Third District Court of Appeal.

  13. What are the regular office hours of the clerk’s office?
  14. 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

  15. Does the court have a drop box for filing after hours?
  16. Yes. The night filing box is located adjacent to the entrance steps.

  17. What will be the filing date of the documents filed in the drop box?
  18. Documents placed in the box prior to 8:00 a.m. will be clocked in as being “nightbox” filed as of the previous business day.

  19. What are the hours the drop box is available?
  20. The drop box is available when the Court is closed. Documents will be removed from the box at 8:00 a.m. each business day.

  21. May I file a pleading by fax?
  22. You may only file a pleading by fax if you have received prior permission by the Court. Fax filings are only accepted on emergency or expedited matters.

  23. When does the court issue its opinions?
  24. Every Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. The opinions are posted on the website shortly after 10:30 a.m.
