Portrait Unveiling Ceremony
On November 9, 2009, the Court honored former Chief Judge David M. Gersten with the unveiling of his portrait. Family, friends, and colleagues applauded as the artist, L.A. Cline, revealed the portrait.
Judge Gersten’s portrait, like those of other former Chief Judges of the Court, will
be displayed in the courtroom at the Third District Court of Appeal. |

Judge Linda Ann Wells has been unanimously elected Chief Judge Elect
The judges of the Third District Court of Appeal have unanimously elected Judge Linda Ann Wells as Chief Judge Elect. Judge Wells will succeed Chief Judge Juan Ramirez, Jr. on July 1, 2011 for a term that will run through June 30, 2013. |

Gersten took place Wednesday, July 1, 2009, at the FIU College of Law. A reception followed at the Rafael Diaz Balart Hall. |

Monroe County Bar Gathers with the Judges
On Sunday, June 21, 2009, the Monroe County Bar Association hosted the judges of the Third District Court of Appeal at Camille’s restaurant in Key West. Chief Judge David M. Gersten and 16th Judicial Circuit State Attorney Dennis W. Ward spoke to the group of attorneys and judges about the following day’s visit for oral arguments. After oral argument, the networking continued at a nearby restaurant called Meteor Smokehouse. |

First Annual Luncheon with the Judges
On Thursday May 14, 2009, the Third District Court of Appeal Historical Society held its First Annual Luncheon with the Judges at the Biltmore Hotel. Chief Judge David M. Gersten addressed a crowd of over 100 attorneys and judges about his reflections on his term as chief judge. The Historical Society was created to continue to commemorate and memorialize the history of the Court. |
